The Paul Peck Humanities Institute is actively recruiting to fill spring 2011 internship positions within the Smithsonian Institution (SI), Library of Congress (LOC), and the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum (USHMM). Consider applying for this life-altering experience.
Eligible students have at least 15 MC credits, a GPA of 3.4 and have completed EN102 with a grade of B.
The deadline for all sites is November 1, 2010 for the spring 2011 semester.
Note: applications received by October 15th have much greater chance of site placement for SI and USHMM; students should give us notice ASAP if they are planning to apply.
Our recent interns have been a part of exciting projects such as:
- Feeding and caring for birds in the avian exhibits at the Smithsonian’s National Zoo;
- Cataloging historical sheet music at the Library of Congress;
- Creating family art projects for ImaginAsia at the Freer/Sackler Galleries;
- Exploring and preserving previously “classified” documents generated by the U.S. and other governments during World War II;
- Reviewing filmed interviews with Holocaust survivors and perpetrators as part of an oral history initiative at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum;
- Working on various State Web portals at the Library of Congress;
- Assisting a Yale Scholar with research for his upcoming book on the Obama/McCain presidential campaign
