Experiential Learning Opportunity - Paul Peck Humanities Institute

March 1, 2011 is the deadline for applications to the Paul Peck Humanities Institute summer internships at the Library of Congress and U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum. Deadlines for all three institutions for fall placement is June 15, 2011.

Professor Kelly Rudin, internship coordinator, is willing to help students plan and polish their application essays – If you get them to her by February 22,2011.

About the PPHI Internship Program:

This internship program enables MC students to participate in professional museum and library activities at the Library of Congress and the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum. Summer internships run the length of summer I plus summer II, with 20 hours spent per week at the internship site as well as enrollment in a three-credit MC Honors course (HP-275PA/PB/PG). The application review process is competitive.

Students who are eligible to apply have:
1) Completed 15 credit hours at MC, and be a current full-time student;
2) Earned a 3.4 overall GPA;
3) Completed (or be enrolled at the time of application) EN102. This course must be completed prior to commencement of internship, with at least a grade of B.

New! Internships in the White House. Montgomery College students have an opportunity to apply for internships in the White House. Summer 2009 White House internship applications are due by Sunday, March 22. Internships Advertised on E-Jobs - this service, open to all MC students, lists not only jobs but also internship opportunities for students.

Montgomery College Collegewide Cooperative Education and Internship Program

Montgomery College Smithsonian Internships - An internship at the Smithsonian Institution through Montgomery College is an experience like no other! It is a prearranged, structured learning opportunity within a defined time frame. MC students in any discipline may apply for an internship.

Montgomery College Library of Congress Students with an interest in history and/or languages may find interesting opportunities in this program.

The Macklin Business Institute, Montgomery College, Rockville Campus. The Macklin Business Institute offers an honors and mentoring program to business students. The college-wide program includes participation in business honors courses, a seminar each week, and mentoring by both a faculty member and a corporate executive. A business internship and scholarship support may be available to students accepted into the Institute.

Internships that earn college credit within specific subject area at Montgomery College - ask about these courses in the Counseling Center or check a current schedule of classes for coordinator contact information. Most of these for-credit internship courses have a prerequisite of completion of one or more courses in the subject field.
