Highlights -- New Programs in Maryland

  1. Public Health Science at UMCP-Shady Grove Campus

    The University of Maryland College Park now offers the B.S. degree in Public Health Science at the Universities at Shady Grove. The Public Health Science degree is a science-based program which prepares students to work in the field of public health at the local, state, and international level in all aspects of disease prevention, health promotion, environmental protection, emergency preparedness, and wellness, as well as a host of other public health related areas.   2. Cybersecurity at UMUC

    UMUC has created the first-of-its-kind online cybersecurity degree programs: the BS in Cybersecurity. The major in cybersecurity prepares graduates to be leaders in the protection of data assets. The curriculum focuses on the techniques, policies, operational procedures, and technologies that secure and defend information and information systems, in local as well as more broadly based domains. The availability, integrity, authentication, confidentiality, and non-repudiation of data is examined. The major prepares students for careers as information systems security professionals, senior system managers, and system administrators responsible for information systems and the security of those systems.
